Roulette: history

The roulette name comes from French and it means “little wheel”. The origin of roulette is in France in century XVII, although there is numerous disagreement about their origin.

The first version of the present roulette is born in France by a mathematician, Blaise Pascal, who invented while trying to create another instrument. The game evolves in later centuries and a roulette game born with 37 numbers (0 to 36), it´s the European roulette.

Some people thought that the roulette had been created by a pact with the demon formerly, reason was that the sum of all the board numbers is 666.

The roulette extends to the United States at the beginning of century XIX, where another number is added (00) in order to increase the chances of victory for the casino. It´s the origin of American roulette.

The game extended soon by both continents arriving to be one of the most popular games in all casinos and halls game of that time.
